This blogger beta things sucks. I edited the last post, but it isn't working, so here is the PD8 synopsis from Barnes & Noble:

"In the latest addition to Meg Cabot's hit series, 'The Princess Diaries', Mia is now a junior in high school. She has completed her year as student body president and has made it thru Algebra and Geometry. And Michael is still her boyfrend. As Lana was a bit off about what college bos expect from their girlfriends, or else Michael (as we know) is just a great, out-of-the-ordinary guy. So life for Mia is finally settling down, right? Ermmm... no. First off, Mia decides a haircut is in order. How was she supposed to know that she would end up looking like a cotton swab? Then Lily decides that since Mia didn't turn over her student body president-ship as planned last year, she will just have to nominate Mia for a second term. But those are minor problems, although they sure don't seem like it to Mia when it is happening. Little does she know what major event is about to happen. Michael is leaving. For Japan. For a year. Here is a longer synopsis of the book...apparently Mia is going to use sex to keep Michael from going to Japan for a year...

Do you really think so, Tina? About my hair? Mom and I took Rocky to Astor Place Hairstylists yesterday for his first haircut, since it was the only place open, seeing as how it was Labor Day. He wouldn’t stop screaming bloody murder about it, so I volunteered to let them trim my hair first, to show him it didn’t hurt. I have to admit, I was kind of startled when they got the clippers out!

I think it’s great. You look just like Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday! What did Michael say when he saw it????

I haven’t seen him since I got back from Genovia. We’re meeting at Number One Noodle Son tonight though. I can’t WAIT!!! He says he has something VERY IMPORTANT he needs to tell me, that he can’t tell me over the phone or IM.

What do you think it is???? And Number One Noodle Son? That’s a little way out of his neighbourhood, isn’t it? Hasn’t he moved into the dorm yet?

No, not yet. Something about his housing. I think that’s what he wants to tell me. Maybe he’s getting his own apartment or something.

I am sure all of you know that Party Princess was released last Tuesday. I was browsing the Party Princess message boards at Meg's Book Club and found the synopsis for the next full-length novel:

Also, in her latest blog entry, Meg has said that the Princess Diaries series will end with book 12. The seventh book will be released next month, and since one full-length novel is released per year, that means we have about five more years of The Princess Diaries. The 12th book will take place during Mia's final semester of her senior year in high school.

New Layout

Not much PD news to report, but I have finally created a new layout. It launches in a pop-up window and utilizes frames - navigation might be a little annoying, but not completely impossible - just do a right-click on any page and choose 'Back' from the menu. I will add 'Back' and 'Home' links to all pages next week.

A few days ago Meg posted the cover for Princess Diaries VII: Party Princess. Notice that the title deviates from the usual 'style' (i.e. "Princess in [fill in the blank]"). She also posted a brief synopsis of the seventh book:

This spring, Mia is determined to have a good time, despite the fact that the student government over which she presides is seriously broke. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), Grandmere has an elaborate scheme to simultaneously raise money, catapult Mia to theatrical fame, and link her romantically with the eligible teen bachelor playing her love interest—who is NOT her boyfriend. It’s no wonder that Michael, the love of Mia’s life, seems to think she’s a psycho, or worse: not much fun.

Is it possible that a soon-to-be star of the stage, president of the student body, and future ruler of Genovia, doesn’t know how to party?

Updates for UK fans

I haven't forgotten this site! I had some really bad computer problems, so I have had to reinstall my operating system and stuff.

The books published in the UK will also get new covers. I first found the cover of Seventh Heaven posted on the message boards at Meg Cabot's Book Club. I also found the cover of The "Princess Diaries" Guide to Christmas, of which will be released on November 4, 2005. The paperback edition of Seventh Heaven will be released on October 6, 2006.

The Princess Diaries Diary for 2006 will be released on September 2, 2005. There are no plans to release an Engagement Calendar (the US version) for 2006.

There will be a book about Mia's sixteenth birthday called "Sweet Sixteen Princess". It will be short, like Princess Present, and will be released on April 1, 2006.

Hello. I am so sorry for the lack of updates...I meant to create a new layout for the site, but there hasn't been much PD news lately. I have no intentions of closing this site, though. There's still loads I'd like to do for it.

One thing on the agenda is to bring back the movie/book comparison page. I lost my original document and I started to create another one from scratch, but a lot of other things got in the way.

Another thing on the agenda is to do a major update to the book cover gallery and the movie poster gallery. I've collected more covers and posters, but haven't uploaded them yet.

And furthermore, this site is in dire need of a facelift. I have an idea as to what the new layout will look like, but I haven't even started it yet. It will be much simpler than the current one, I assure you.

That being said, here are some new covers I have found. I am sure everyone in the UK knows that The Princess Present was released in the UK as Mia's Christmas (in November of 2004). You can view the cover here. Also, the Engagement Calendar has been released in the UK as The Princess Diaries Diary 2005. Meg has said that an engagement calendar will not be released in the US for 2006, but will be released overseas. You can view the cover here. For those of you into audio books, there is a version of Princess in Training released on CD. You can view the cover for this here.

I also found the cover for Holiday Princess. This book will be released on November 1, 2005. It is about Christmas traditions around the world, or something. I will have to do some more research, but you can look at the cover here.

I just wanted to let you know that Meg's next blog entry will contain the text of the audio excerpt. You can still download the excerpt at her website.

Also, Meg has posted the book covers for the second editions of books 1-5. I don't know if there will be second editions for Project Princess or The Princess Present. I highly doubt it. You can read information about it at the Meg Cabot Book Club. The link will take you directly to the thread in question.

I will add the book covers for the first editions of books 1-5 sometime this week, along with the PDF version of the excerpt I promised. I am also going to start working on a much nicer layout for the website...one that will not take so long to load. Once I do that, I will delete the so-called 'text' version of the site because it's too much for me to maintain.

Also, I invite anyone reading this to visit the message board I have set up for this site. There isn't anything on the board at the moment, but you can discuss anything you want there, even spoilers for the sixth book (of which hasn't been released in the US yet). It's collecting dust at the moment.

This is the new blog for the Princess Diaries site. I will have to create a new layout for it someday, but for right now, it will look like this.

The previous blog is still available at Tripod, if you want to read previous updates.

I have updated the book covers page with the final book cover for the sixth book, called Princess in Training. Meg Cabot has an audio extract on her website, as well as a new page for the book, which is accessible here. Her UK-based website also has an extract, although a different one. You can read an excerpt of Sixsational there.

I will also upload a PDF version of the aforementioned Sixsational exceprt later today.
